The Genesis Conference is a new young adult conference hosted by the Diocese of Lafayette-in-Indiana.
This year's conference will be at St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church at 1870 W Oak St, Zionsville, IN 46077 on Saturday, May 13, 2023.

Keynote Speaker: Jimmy Mitchell
Believing deeply in the power of beauty to change the world, Jimmy’s gifts of storytelling and piano-playing bring him to every corner of the world. From summer camps and corporate retreats to large-scale conferences, his greatest joy is helping others fall in love with Jesus. He’s the host of a popular weekly podcast, founder of Love Good (a subscription company that evangelizes culture through beauty), and a huge fan of old books and local coffee.

"Catholicism &The Lord of the Rings"with Kaitlyn Facista
Kaitlyn Facista is a Catholic convert, wife, mother, and hobbit at heart. Kaitlyn is the creator of Tea with Tolkien, an online community inspired by the works and Catholic faith of JRR Tolkien. This free community includes an active online book club, dozens of printables and downloads, and years of podcasts and blog posts to both inspire and equip Tolkien fans. Kaitlyn is the author of The Silmarillion Reader's Guide and To Middle-earth and Back Again, both of which can be downloaded for free from her website.

"Seeds of Life: Creation, Evolution and the Bible"with Dr. Chris Baglow
Theologian Dr. Chris Baglow leads the Science & Religion Initiative for the McGrath Institute at the University of Notre Dame. In this breakout session, he will introduce how to read the biblical accounts of creation from a genuinely Catholic perspective that is open to modern scientific discoveries. He will conclude with a consideration of St. Augustine's approach, who saw long before Darwin that a natural origin for living things is completely compatible with the First Creation Account when we read it with respect for God's perfect wisdom and goodness.

"The Beauty of Art"with Jill Rund
Jill Rund is an artist, wife, mother of four, and parishioner at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Carmel, Indiana. She runs Jill Elizabeth Art, an online fine art business selling her sacred artwork in a contemporary style. She is passionate about expressing the joy of our Catholic faith and building our domestic churches with beautiful artworks that lead our families to the Truth of God’s love and mercy.

In Genesis, the first book of the Bible, we learn that we are created for a reason, a purpose, a relationship with a Person. The Genesis Conference is dedicated to exploring topics related to God and what it means to be human. This year's theme is "Created for Wonder." At this year's conference, we will be focusing on the transcendentals of Beauty, Truth, and Goodness. Anything that possesses these qualities can lead us to a state of wonder and awe and, ultimately, to God Himself.

The Genesis Conference is open to any young adults, ages 18-39. While it is hosted by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Lafayette-in-Indiana, you do not have to be part of the diocese to attend, nor do you have to be Catholic. Whether you have a strong relationship with God or are simply exploring, we are confident that Genesis will offer you a chance to think about the deeper things in life and to connect with some great people along the way.
