In 2016 the Diocese of Lafayette-in-Indiana will ordain two to the priesthood and three to the Sacred Order of Deacon.
On May 28, 2016 at the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception in Lafayette, Indiana, Mr. Coady Owens, Mr. John Nguyen, Mr. Michael Bower and Mr. Cole Daily were ordained to the Sacred Order of Deacon.
Deacon Kyle Neterer and Deacon Derek Aaron were ordained to the Sacred Priesthood of our Lord Jesus Christ on June 11, 2016 at the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception. The Diocese of Lafayette-in-Indiana is truly blessed!
Currently there are 25 seminarians in the formation process studying in 3 different seminaries around the country. Because more and more men are answering God's call, the opportunity to be educated in the best seminaries relies on the help of the laity they will one day serve as priests. As a result, seminarian education is one of the recipients of donations to the biennial Fruitful Harvest Campaign. However this is simply not enough so an appeal to help defray these costs is held each year.
The Appeal provides us with a tangible way to give back to those men who have chosen to give their lives to the Church. The average annual expense associated with the cost of educating one seminarian in formation for the priesthood is more than $40,000.00 per seminarian per year.
As you know, in supporting seminarian education, that cost can be overwhelming. With your prayers and response to the 2015 Seminarian Fund Appeal, the affirmation of the people of God is invaluable to the training of the future priests of the Diocese of Lafayette-in-Indiana.
On the weekend's of June 4-5 and June 11-12 parishioners thoughout the diocese will have the opportunity to make a gift to this important appeal. All gifts will go directly to your seminarians education. However gifts can be made at anytime thhroughout the year.
The seminarians of the Diocese of Lafayette-in-Indiana seek to give themselves entirely in service to our Lord and to his people as priests. These men are seeking that their hearts become one with the heart of the Good Shepherd.
Would you be willing to make an investment in the future of the diocese by helping support the men who will bring the sacraments, priestly presence and spiritual guidance to you, your children and grandchildren?
